Abstract
Dosta su česte i uzrokuju dugotrajno bolovanje, teške patnje unesrećenog i njegove okoline, osim toga u znatnom postotku izliječeni ostaju trajni invalidi.

According to the definition by World Health Organization, a burn or a thermal trauma develops when a hot liquid, hot object or fire destroys a part of or all skin layers. Burns are one of everyday causes that occur in at home, at work or in the surroundings. They can be a minor health problem or death threatening emergencies. They are considered a public health problem with good reason for causing a relatively high number of deaths. They are quite common and cause long-term sick-leave, great agony of the injured and his environment. Furthermore, a considerable percentage of the healed remain permanently disabled. Good knowledge of skin anatomy and pathology is needed to determine the locality and damage extent. Burns are classified according to surface, depth of tissue affected and the clinical picture severity. Three zones can be differentiated in the burnt surface according to the degree of tissue damage. Treatment of burns consists of general and local therapy. Surgical treatment is also mentioned in some literature. Considering the danger of bad heal up of burns, it is necessary to conduct rehabilitation. Numerous complications can be present in a burnt patient. A nurse has an important role in the health care of a patient with burns. It is therefore necessary to make nursing diagnoses to help the patient recover better and more efficiently.
