Abstract
Vjerodostojnost je značajan element, kako poslovnog tako i privatnog života i trebao bi biti jedan od pokazatelja uspješnosti i povjerenja. Laži, skrivanje činjenica, informacija, manipuliranje, prikazivanje samo „lijepog lica“ stručnjaci označavaju kao ubojice vjerodostojnosti. Danas u društvu postoje razni mehanizmi utjecaja na javno mnijenje te ovisno o tome koliko se određeni političar zna služiti komunikacijskim i persuazijskim alatima toliko će biti i uspješan. Temeljni kameni vjerodostojnosti su: transparentnost, istinitost i autentičnost. Pritom transparentnost ima odlučujuću ulogu. Istinitost stavlja u prvi plan poštenje u izrazu i djelovanju. Ono što se kaže mora odgovarati istini. Ono što se misli mora odgovarati istini. Ono što se učini mora odgovarati istini. Pouzdane, povjerljive i iskrene informacije ne nastaju na varanju ili pokušajima zavaravanja. Osim tri naprijed spomenuta stupa vjerodostojnosti iznimno je važno pravilo kongurentne komunikacije: jedinstvo misli, riječi i djela.

Credibility is an important element of both the professional and private life and should serve as one of the indicators of success and trust. Lies, withholding facts and information, manipulation, presenting solely the "pretty side" have been labelled by experts as credibility killers. Today's society offers various mechanisms for influencing public opinion, and a politician's success depends on his/her ability to use to their advantage the tools of communication and persuasion. The cornerstones of credibility include: transparency, truthfulness, and authenticity. Transparency plays a deciding role. Truthfulness brings to the fore honesty in both verbal expression and action. Words uttered must fit the truth. Thoughts conceived must fit the truth. Actions performed must fit the truth. Reliable, confidential, and honest information does not stem from cheating or deception. Apart from the three aforementioned pillars of credibility, one extremely important rule is congruent communication: the unity of thoughts, words, and actions.
