Abstract Poremećaji hranjenja ozbiljni su i sve češći poremećaji kojima je dugo bilo posvećeno premalo pažnje.
Abstract (english) Eating disorders are a serious and more common disorder that has received little attention for a long time. Not too long ago, they received public attention, thus ceasing to be "women's secrets". The main eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Some characteristics are similar and patients often switch from one disorder to another. Some people have characteristics of both disorders. Then we use the term eating disorder - indefinite.
The fact is that all patients with anorexia nervosa have in common that they are constantly thinking about food, it is their suffering. Anorexia nervosa is a psychiatric disorder in which a person is convinced that he or she is overweight and therefore undergoes a strict diet regimen. It is estimated that there are about 90,000 patients in our country. Research to date has shown that the average age of onset is 14 years, with a higher prevalence in girls, especially between the ages of 12 and 23.
Anorexia has many consequences, the most pronounced being thinness, amenorrhea, changes in all organ systems, abdominal pain, constipation, inability to regulate body temperature. It is therefore no surprise that this is the disease that most people with a psychiatric disorder die from.
Anorexia patient is approached by a multidisciplinary team in which an educated nurse plays an important role. She is the one who is always with the patient, noticing complications and recording progress. For the patient, a holistic approach, empathy, and confidence building are important, as this is a major step towards healing.
In my work, I needed to present the case of a young Marie Vrnoga de Gregorio, who managed to overcome anorexia with the help of a doctor, family, but most importantly with the strength of mind and will that can help those who have an eating disorder today unselfishly.
