Abstract Cerebrovaskularni inzult je naglo nastali neurološki poremećaj uzrokovan poremećajem cirkulacije u mozgu što dovodi do nedovoljne opskrbe određenih dijelova mozga kisikom i hranjivim tvarima. Najveći dio vremena medicinska sestra/tehničar provodi u zdravstvenoj njezi, podjeli terapije, omogućavanju pravilne prehrane i higijene, te u edukaciji bolesnika i njegove obitelji. Medicinska sestra/tehničar zauzima veliku ulogu u prevenciji, liječenju i rehabilitaciji osoba s moždanim udarom. Ona je ravnopravni član multidisciplinarnog tima. Stalnim napredovanjem i edukacijom medicinska sestra osigurava profesionalnost i kompetenciju kod liječenja bolesnika s moždanim udarom.
Abstract (english) Cerebrovascular insult is a sudden appeared neurological disorder caused by brain circulation disorder which leads to insufficient supply of certain parts of the brain to oxygen and nutrients. It is one of the three most common causes of death and disability in the adult population in the world. Stroke represents a major medical, social and economic problem of modern society. It is not just an individual problem, it is a public health problem, it affects not only the patient but also his family, and the society as a whole. The stroke is divided into ischemic and hemorrhagic. We share the risk factors for the emergence of stroke to those we can influence and on those we can’t influence. The clinical picture depends on which area is affected, and about the size and location of brain damage. The outcome of stroke is serious. A third of the stroke patients die, one third remains completely dependent on someone else's help, and one third achieves good recovery or retains a lower degree of disability. The stroke presents as an emergency situation, and therefore the speed of receiving, processing and treating the patient is a very important. The patient is received in specialized units for the treatment of stroke. The entire process of receiving a patient on the ward, treatment, rehabilitation and discharge is monitored by a nurse/technician. With the patient 24 hours a day, it monitors all the changes and complications that are occurring and prevents them in time, preventing the symptoms from getting worse. Nursing care for stroke sufferers is a set of knowledge and skills of nursing practice without which a positive outcome of health care is not possible. Health care is very complex and depends on the general condition of the patient. The nurse/technician is an independent healthcare provider. A nurse/technician is expected to provide the highest possible quality health care. The nurse/technician is the longest time with the patient, knows his needs and can help him by motivating him to actively participate in self-independency and rehabilitation. Most of the time the nurse/technician spends in health care, sharing the therapy, giving proper nutrition and hygiene, and educating patients and their families. The nurse/technician plays a major role in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of stroke patients. Nurse/technician is an equal member of a multidisciplinary team. Continuous advancement and education of nurses ensures professionalism and competence in the treatment of stroke patients.
