This work elaborates and describes the musical structure, arrangement, performance and production of the song „Što to bješe ljubav“, which is better known for being originally performed by the doyenne of Croatian entertainment music, Oliver Dragojević. The introductory section briefly describes the genre of Croatian entertainment music and the most influential representatives’ promoters. Further was explained the music structure, melody, harmony, tempo and rhythm of the composition. The author of this work writes arrangement of the original version of the song and worked out the sections of all the instruments in the DAW. Original samples of the drum and cymbal elements were recorded, which were then inserted into a virtual sample player and used for programming. The electric bass section was also programmed in the MIDI track, while the piano, strings, flute and horn sections are recorded by playing the MIDI keyboards directly in the MIDI tracks, enabling their subsequent correction. External professional digital keyboard and sounds from the host program are used as the sound source for the MIDI tracks. The keyboard was also used for the introductory section of the piano played “live” and recorded in the audio format. The electric guitar was played and recorded in the same way. The author of this work sang and recorded the main vocal section in his homemade studio. After recording, the audio tracks were edited. In the mixing phase, the audio tracks were frequency equalized, dynamically processed using a compressor, and digital reverberations were added to place them in stereo sound. Finally, the composition was mastered.
