In the early stage, there are usually no symptoms and signs that would indicate a serious disease, so cancer is most often detected in the late stage. The diagnosis of gastric cancer is made on the basis of anamnesis, physical examination, complete blood count, esophagogastroscopy with tumor biopsy and endoscopic ultrasound. Depending on the general condition of the patient and the stage of the disease, treatment methods can be combined. In addition to doctors and other health profiles, the nurse is part of a multidisciplinary team that participates in the treatment of sick people. The main task of the nurse in the process of health care is to educate the patient about cancer, but also to educate his family. In addition to education, the nurse provides psychological support and assistance to the patient and family. The process of health care in a patient with gastric cancer must result in the maximum preservation of quality of life, raising self-confidence and optimism, and the patient's commitment to help himself as much as possible. In order to achieve this, the nurse takes a number of measures and interventions throughout the care.
