Abstract
Akutno zbrinjavanje migrene obuhvaća specifično i nespecifično liječenje, uključujući neopioidne i opioidne analgetike, triptane i ergotamine.

Migraine headache is a debilitating disorder that affects millions of people in the worldwide. The diagnosis of migraine can significantly affect quality of life, health care costs, and daily productivity. Hundreds of trials and many guidelines have documented various approaches to migraine management, whether via acute treatment or chronic migraine prophylaxis. Acute or abortive migraine management encompasses specific and nonspecific migraine therapeutics, including nonopioid and opioid analgesics, triptans, and ergotamines. Prophylactic migraine management data span the pharmacological spectrum from antiepileptic and antihypertensive agents to botulinum toxin type A. Special considerations for migraine management also must be applied in various populations, including children, pregnant women, and the elderly. Migraine is defined as a unilateral headache with pulsating pain of a moderate to severe intensity, often accompanied by photophobia, phonophobia, and/or nausea, and may occur with or without aura. The headaches exhibit a recurrent pattern and can significantly affect activities of daily livng. Migraine headache has been classified by the World Health Organization as one of the 19 most disabling diseases worldwide. Migraine most frequently occurs in the age population between 30 and 40 years and it is more frequent in female than male population. It represents a complex health, social, and economic problem. The aim of this study was to objectively analyze the influence of migraine upon clients´ quality of life. In order to achieve that goal we examined 30 patients who had attended at the General hospital Varaždin. The sample subjects were from both sexes aged 18- 60 years. We used a questionnaire based upon the form of Gordon´ s Functional Health Pattern. Results were displayed in percentage, graphically. We confirmed that migraine has a great impact upon patients´ quality of life because disorders of each component of functional health pattern typology had been recorded. Most prominent disorders in clients quality of life were found in Self- Perception and Role- Relationship Pattern.
