Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system whose main manifestation is the formation of lesions that are the result of the loss of the myelin sheath around the neurone axons. More than 2.5 million people suffer from multiple sclerosis in the world, and the first symptoms of the disease most often occur between the twentieth and fiftieth years of life, while by sex the disease more often affects the female population in a ratio of 3:1. According to the phenomenon, there are significant geographical differences, so the disease is more common in developed countries of the world and affects colder geographical areas. Multiple sclerosis is not an inherited disease but there is some genetic predisposition to the occurrence of this disease. Multiple sclerosis is also called „ disease with a thousand faces“, because the course and symptoms of the disease are different in each sick individual depending on where the demyelination process occurred at the CNS site. The first symptoms that occur with multiple sclerosis are double vision or even complete vision loss in one eye, numbness or weakness of the extremities, torso or one side of the face, dizziness and balance disorders and urination and stool control disorders. MS treatment consists of medicamentous treatment, unavoidable physical therapy, and today more sufferers use complementary and alternative medicine (KAM) whose use is widespread worldwide with a tendency to increase. Patients believe that KAM will help them, they want to try something new, so the cause does not lie in dissatisfaction with their doctor. Certainly the goals of rehabilitation and conventional medicine and alternative reduction of symptoms of the disease, the longer the preservation of the patient's functional ability, the retention of independence in the activities of everyday life.
