Abstract
Sindrom Down ostaje jedan od najčešćih kromosomskih abnormalnosti, koji osim što utječe na kognitivne sposobnosti, uzrokuje blage do umjerene razvojne probleme te predstavlja rizik za razna zdravstvena oboljenja. Genetička osnova ovog poremećaja je dodatni kromosom na 21. paru, a javlja se češće u trudnica kasnije životne dobi. U okviru prenatalne dijagnostike za otkrivanje Down sindroma koriste se neinvazivni testovi, dok se za postavljanje dijagnoze, kada postoje opravdane sumnje, koristi... More amniocinteza ili biopsija korionskih resica. Unatoč brojnim mogućnostima djece s Down sindromom i radosti koje unose u obitelj sve se više budućih roditelja odlučuje na prekid trudnoće djeteta kod sumnje na sindrom Down. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati trenutačne stavove o ishodu trudnoće i informiranost opće populacije o osobama sa sindromom Down. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 400 (100%) osoba ženskog spola, najveći broj njih, 194 (49%) dobne je skupine od 20 do 24 godine. Temeljem rezultata istraživanja može se zaključiti da ne postoji statistički značajna razlika o stavovima ispitanica o nastavku trudnoće u slučaju djeteta s Down sindromom s obzirom na različitu dob. Nadalje, ne postoji statistički značajna razlika o mišljenju da bi dijete s Down sindromom utjecalo negativno na partnerske odnose s obzirom na sljedeća demografska obilježja ispitanica: stupanj obrazovanja, mjesto stanovanja, zaposlenost, broj djece i bračni status. Abstract (english)
Down syndrome remains one of the most common chromosomal abnormalities, which in addition to affect your cognitive ability, causes mild to medium developmental problems and is a risk for various health conditions. The genetic basis of this disorder is an additional chromosome on the 21st pair, which occurs more frequently in later-pregnant women. Non-invasive tests are used for prenatal diagnostics to detect Down syndrome, while amniocynthesis or chorionic biopsy are used to diagnose when... More there are reasonable doubts. Despite the many opportunities for children with Down syndrome and the happiness they bring to the family, more and more expectant parents will stop completely their Down syndrome pregnancy. The aim of this study was to test current attitudes about pregnancy outcome and the general population's awareness of people with Down syndrome. The study involved 400 (100%) women, most of them 194 (49%) aged 20-24. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that there is no statistically significant difference in the respondents' attitudes about the continuation of pregnancy in the case of a child with Down syndrome , given the different age. Furthermore, there is no statistically significant difference in the opinion that a child with Down Syndrome would adversely affect partnerships with respect to the following demographic characteristics of the respondents: level of education, place of residence, employment, number of children and marital status.
