Stroke is the leading cause of disability in the world, while as a cause of death it is in a high second place. The incidence is most often accompanied by bad life habits, reduced physical activity, inadaptability to stress caused by modern lifestyle. Cerebrovascular stroke (CVI) means a sudden blockage in blood supply to some parts of the brain. Blockage or interruption of blood flow can occur due to blockage of a blood vessel caused by thrombosis / embolism (ischemic stroke) or rupture of a blood vessel and as a result blood flow to the brain (hemorrhagic stroke). In the successful care and treatment of the consequences of a stroke, it is important to recognize the signs and symptoms early, which is achieved by adequate education of all age groups. Low public awareness of symptoms, inadequate and uneven access to specific stroke treatment, and lack of coordinated action are leading problems. The aim of this study was to assess society 's awareness of stroke, the recognition of initial symptoms and the importance of an urgent and immediate response when they are noticed. Furthermore, the research aims to determine the level of information of the population with regard to the demographic characteristics of the respondents. The study involved 302 respondents, from the youngest adult group (18-25) to the oldest (over 66 years) regardless of education level. The results show different information regarding education, which is crucial in the treatment and recognition of symptoms. Also, according to the data, female respondents have a significantly higher assessment of the impact of lifestyle on the occurrence of stroke, as do younger respondents. Given the place of residence (village / city), it did not prove to be an important factor in the lack of information about stroke. Due to the high mortality and disability caused precisely by the consequences of a stroke, it is important to educate enough about the first signs and symptoms that precede it. Also, the general population should be aware of the risk factors that can initiate it.
