Keeping good oral health is important key for quality life overall. Cavity and periodontal disease have importance in individual health, but watching overall society it presents big public health problem. Because of poor oral health, Republic of Croatia started different campaign for promotion and prevention of oral disease. To maintain corresponding oral health it is important to start at earlier age, but sometimes because of fear or earlier trauma nothing can help to calm person down. That's why it's important for anxiety patient to secure him enough time and patience . It is known how medicine in last few years is always going foward, and so does dental medicine. New treatments are constantly being found for treating anxiety. Music has found a place in medicine in the last few decades but this method is not yet noted as a great distracter in dental medicine. Considering that this area is not at all investigated in Croatia, research was conducted. In the research participated a total of 60 participants which were divided in two groups (examine and test group). All subjects were given a questionnaire at the beginning of the test in order to access the level of anxiety and also measurement of heart rate was performed. Music was not played in test group but measurement of heart rate was provided. In examine group, except of measuring heart rate, music was played as well and in the end of study participants were given the last questionnaire which gave us a feedback about provided study. Comparing the heart rate values between the two groups, no significant difference in heart rate reduction was observed, but a slight decrease in values was seen in the test group. For more significant changes it would be necessary to increase the sample size of participants. No one in the study group encountered this method of therapy and they believe that it should be included in everyday use in the future. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the importance of feedback from participants and a slight decrease in heart rate, which can be a stimulus for further implementation of this research and prove that music therapy can be used in dental practice, and not only in certain branches of medicine.
