Shoulder pain or PHS (periarthritis humeroscapularis) is a syndrome that occurs due to various inflammatory and degenerative changes in some tissues of the shoulder area. The degenerative process most often affects the acromioclavicular joint, then the glenohumeral joint, and least often the sternoclavicular joint. Looking at the biomechanics of the shoulder, the shoulder is the most mobile joint in the human body and due to the large range of motion various damages occur. Causes of painful shoulder can be: rupture of the rotator cuff, calcifying tendinitis, impingement syndrome and frozen shoulder. The origin of PHS is still unknown. The cause of the degenerative process in the shoulder is unknown. The clinical picture is dominated by pain that is present at rest or in motion. The mobility of the shoulders is also reduced, the patient keeps his hand next to the body because the abduction is very painful to perform. Dressing, cleaning, performing personal hygiene is sometimes impossible due to pain. Shoulder function is very important in performing daily activities (work, sports), so if pain occurs, it is very important to recognize the symptoms as soon as possible and start proper treatment. It is necessary to perform diagnostic tests (ultrasound, X-ray) for the correct diagnosis. The goal of kinesitherapy and physical therapy is to reduce pain in the shoulder joint, restore shoulder function, which includes increasing range of motion, strengthening muscles, preventing further damage, maintaining mobility and educating patients.
