Often misunderstood and diagnosed too late, restless legs syndrome causes an irresistible urge to move the legs and sometimes the arms. Although it is not placed in the category of serious diseases, it can certainly worsen the quality of life and affect everyday activities. Yet more than 5 percent of the total population suffers from this problem, knowing or not knowing about it. People describe various unpleasant sensations that worsen during sleep and rest which improve with the mere movement. Through various studies over the centuries, it has been "found" that the main reason is reduced dopamine secretion in the brain which is responsible for normal motor control. Although the causes are not yet certain, there are various medications that reduce the symptoms of RLS such as dopamine agonists which tells us that we are on the right track. With both medication and physical activity, we reduce the incidence of symptoms, especially through stretching exercises. The syndrome itself has one major division into primary and secondary causes. Primary RLS is inherited and occurs before the age of 40, and secondary RLS occurs as a consequence of other diseases and disorders after the age of 40 and since then it is possible on a daily basis. Due to the very range of the first occurrence, there are diagnoses and various questionnaires in order to determine the existence of the syndrome as early and accurately as possible. Here, conversations with the patient, his subjective data and trust between the patient and the patient are very important in order to get a clearer clinical picture. An indispensable part of the creation of the entire therapy are the interdisciplinary team that helps the patient with mental and physical difficulties in every action. As well as moderate exercise and movement throughout the day, there are various aids created for people suffering from RLS, different physiotherapy procedures and extremely important sleep hygiene that only improves the patient's condition.
