Abstract
Čovječanstvo je kroz povijest već bilo suočeno sa zaraznim bolestima od kojih su neke opravdale naziv pandemije te imale visoku stopu mortaliteta. Koronavirus se pokazao kao pravi izazov u zdravstvenim sustavima u cijelom svijetu i testirao spremnost zajednice na izvanredne situacije. Istraživanja su kroz povijest dokazala da se nakon masovnih kriznih događanja povećava broj osoba s psihičkim poremećajima, napadajima panike, depresije, nasilja u obiteljima te samoubojstava. Ideja ovog rada bila je saznati kako današnja iznenadna i izvanredna situacija s koronavirusnom bolesti utječe na psihičku dimenziju zdravlja te zdravlja u cjelini. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati kako se osobe starije životne dobi nose sa novonastalom situacijom, kako je pandemija utjecala na njihovo mentalno zdravlje, te na koji način se odrazila na socijalni aspekt zdravlja. Metode: Provedeno je presječno istraživanje putem ankete na području Varaždinske županije u ordinacijama opće medicine među populacijom starijom od 65 godina. Rezultati ovog istraživanja dokazali su da velik broj sudionika osjeća nemir i strah te su dodatno uznemireni su zbog epidemioloških preporuka i posljedično tome se javlja nesanica i palpitacije. Velik postotak sudionika se vrlo teško nosio sa mjerom izrečene samoizolacije i najviše im je nedostajala obitelj, prijatelji i druženje. Vrlo malo sudionika je tražilo stručnu pomoć ili savjet. Iz istraživanja proizlazi da većina ispitanika redovito prati vijesti vezane uz koronavirus te se pridržava epidemioloških preporuka, ali ih iste vrlo uznemiruju. Komunikaciju s dragim ljudima održavaju uživo uz preporučene mjere što ukazuje na potrebu za socijalnim kontaktom. Iz provedenog istraživanja može se zaključiti da je osobama starije dobi potrebno osigurati dostupniju psihološku podršku putem zdravstvenog i socijalnog sustava. Potreban je kontinuiran nadzor ove vulnerabilne skupine u zajednici s ciljem što ranijeg otkrivanja psiholoških posljedica izazvanih dugotrajnom socijalnom izolacijom.
Abstract (english)
Mankind has historically faced infectious diseases, some of which justified the name pandemic and had a high mortality rate. The coronavirus has proven to be a real challenge in health systems around the world and tested the community’s readiness for emergencies. Throughout history, research has shown that the number of people with mental disorders, panic attacks, depression, domestic violence and suicide increases after mass crisis events. The idea of this paper was to examine how today's sudden and extraordinary situation with coronavirus disease affects the psychological dimension of health and health in general. The aim of this paper was to examine how older people cope with the new situation, how the pandemic affected their mental aspect, and how it affected the social aspect of health. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted through a survey in the area of Varaždin County in general practice among the population older than 65 years. The results of this study proved that a large number of participants feel restlessness and fear and are additionally upset by epidemiological recommendations and consequently insomnia and palpitations occur. A large percentage of participants found it very difficult to cope with the measure of self-isolation and they missed family, friends and socializing the most. Very few participants sought professional help or advice. The research shows that most respondents regularly follow the news related to coronavirus and adhere to epidemiological recommendations, but they are very disturbed. They maintain contact with dear people live with recommended measures, which indicates the need for social contact. From the conducted research, it can be concluded that older people need to be provided with more accessible psychological support through the health and social system. Continuous monitoring of this vulnerable group in the community is needed in order to detect as early as possible the psychological consequences caused by long-term social isolation
