Abstract (english) The survey on the knowledge and opinions of nurses/ technicians about Acinetobacter was conducted among 108 respondents, most of whom are women, 77.8%. Data were collected based on the Google form in the period from 27 July 2021 to 04 October 2021. The questionnaire contained ten questions related to knowledge about the pathogen and ten questions about the opinions of the respondents. The research is organized as cross-sectional. Most respondents are aged 19-30 (55.6%) while according to the level of education, the highest number of respondents is those with a university degree, 52.8%. The knowledge demonstrated by the respondents was rated as good. Somewhat less knowledge was shown on issues related to the colonization of the hands of healthcare professionals and patients by this hospital pathogen. Most respondents, 32 of them (29.6%) have 7 correct answers, and 20 of them (18.5%) have eight correct answers. Only 44.4% of respondents believe that the current pandemic of COVID-19 disease will increase the use of antimicrobial drugs. Also, only 30.6% of respondents believe that their work colleagues adhere sufficiently to measures to prevent the spread of Acinetobacter infection, for example by washing hands or changing gloves, while 67.6% state that they change gloves after every patient and every procedure. Respondents opinions towards hand hygiene and changing gloves after each patient and the importance of the hospital environment in prevention were positive, while opinions related to insufficient allocation of financial resources of institutions for education and insufficient adherence to measures to prevent Acinetobacter infections by colleagues, were negative. Therefore, the emphasis is on the prevention of Acinetobacter infections, which can be achieved first by education, then by proper hand hygiene and rational use of antimicrobial drugs. In addition, it is very important to identify the cause as early as possible and implement special cleaning protocols according to the current guidelines of each institution.
