Abstract Tema završnog rada je Primjena Halliwick koncepta u fizioterapiji.
Abstract (english) The subject of the final paper is The application of the Halliwick concept in physiotherapy. The aim of the paper was to get acquainted better with the effects od water and what are the most common diseases in which the concept is applied. It was revealed that it was founded by James McMillan, and the aim of the concept was to enable people with disabilities to learn to swim and to become independent in water. McMillan, his wife and staff were able to find a way to achieve independence in water, which led to the establishment of the Ten Point Program, which is applied in the Halliwick concept. It is based on the hydrostatic, hydrodinamic and kinesiology principles. It has a holistic approach that brings together knowledge about water, body, learning and teaching, motivation, challenges, activity, play, music but also equality of people with disabilities. One of the goals of the Halliwick concept was to develop an individual approach for people with orthopedic, rheumatological and neurological problems. Due to the possobility of application in various conditions, which have the possibility of water participating, it is applied in various diagnoses. Some of the most common diagnoses in which is administered are autism and cerebral palsy. Depending on the condiotion of each person and the disease form which se suffers, each person is approached individually. The goal is to slow down the progress of the disease, if it is progressive, to maintain the existing condition, if it is non- progressive, but also to improve the quality of the patients life, family members and friends.
