Lučenjem hormona prolaktina i oksitocina dolazi do stvaranja i istiskivanja mlijeka u mliječne kanaliće.
Abstract (english) The best way to feed a newborn, as well as an infant, is mother's milk. By breastfeeding, the child gets the necessary food and nutrients for growth and development, but also develops an emotional connection with the mother. Breastfeeding creates a feeling of security, warmth and protection for the child, but also for the mother. The physiology of lactation takes place in three phases: mammogenesis, lactogenesis and galactopoiesis. The secretion of the hormones prolactin and oxytocin leads to the creation and expulsion of milk into the milk ducts. Breastfeeding has positive effects on the mother and the child. There are two types of breastfeeding - controlled and unrestricted. With controlled breastfeeding, the mother puts the child to her breast for a certain period of time, while with unlimited breastfeeding, the mother breastfeeds when the child asks for it. With the unlimited method of breastfeeding, the mother will often have the opportunity to go out in public. With her knowledge and empathic approach, the nurse helps the mother to establish breastfeeding at home, but also in public without certain prejudices and fears. During the preparation of the paper, research was conducted with the aim of gathering the opinions of the general population about breastfeeding in public, tests on the placement of breastfeeding benches in public places. The results show that 77.2% of participants support breastfeeding in public, while 12.8% do not. The remaining 10.2% of participants have no opinion about breastfeeding in public. As many as 94.3% of the participants saw a mother coming in public, and 47.8% of them have a pleasant feeling when they see a mother coming in public. According to the participants' views, the most suitable location for breastfeeding is a park (86.7%), and the least suitable is the public terrace of a cafe/restaurant (58.9%). 85.9% of the participants stated that they support the placement of breastfeeding benches in public places, and 88.5% stated that there is none in their city. Breastfeeding in public is generally met with positive approval by the participants. Although breastfeeding benches do not exist in most cities, research participants support their installation. Negative comments from passers-by to mothers who breastfeed in public were mainly from older women who think that breastfeeding in public is not appropriate.
