Abstract
Neurodegenerativne bolesti česti su uzrok invaliditeta, a njihova je prevalencija veća s rastom kronološke dobi. Rizik za nastanak neurodegenerativnih bolesti povećava se starenjem, a na vjerojatnost pojavljivanja utječu i drugi okolinski faktori i način života. Poznat je opis i prihvaćena definicija invaliditeta kao dugotrajnog oštećenja na tjelesnom, mentalnom, intelektualnom i osjetilnom području koje uz postojeće prepreke u okolini sprečavaju sudjelovanje u društvu na ravnopravnoj osnovi s drugima Svaka neurodegenerativna bolest može rezultirati određenim oblikom i težinom invaliditeta, a najčešće se invaliditet kao posljedica povezuje s Alzheimerovom bolesti, Parkinsonovom bolest i Multiplom sklerozom. Međutim, i rjeđe bolesti poput Amiotrofične lateralne skleroze te dječjih neurodegenerativnih bolesti povećavaju udjel osoba s invaliditetom. Poznavanje građe i anatomskih struktura, funkcionalnih osobitosti neurološkog sustava omogućava nam razumijevanje nastanka poremećaja i bolesti, a istovremeno kreiranje i provođenje adekvatnih terapijskih i rehabilitacijskih postupaka. Također, važno je istaknuti da bolesti i oštećenja u piramidnom i ekstrapiramidnom sustavu razvijaju teškoće i komplikacije koje rezultiraju nastankom invaliditeta. Kvaliteta života prioritetni je cilj u liječenju i rehabilitaciji, a tome doprinose educirani zdravstveni radnici i interdisciplinarna profesionalna suradnja. Cilj ovog rada je prikazati relevantne aspekte neurodegenerativnih bolesti i njihovu povezanost s nastankom invaliditeta.
Abstract (english)
Neurodegenerative diseases are one of the most common causes of disability. Some of the diseases that cause disability are Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple sclerosis. There are also some diseases that are less known, for example Amyotrofic lateral sclerosis and also child neurodegenerative disease, because neurodegenerative disease can occur at any age, that include Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, West syndrome or Hereditary spastic paraparesis. Knowledge of anatomy and function of the nervous system enables us to have a better understanding of the neurodegeneration process, but at the same time allows the procedure of adequate rehabilitation and therapy. Also it's important to know that pyramidal and extrapyramidal systems are responsible for innervation of movement and if there's a flaw within one of them a person can develop one of many types of disability caused by neurodegenerative diseases. Quality of life is a important factor of coping with the neurodegenerative disease. Health care workers, rehabilitators and the whole interdisciplinary team that work with persons with disabilities have to know how to carry out treatment, rehabilitation process and therapeutic conversation with persons with disability. The goal of this thesis is to show the importance of neurodegenerative diseases as a factor that causes the development of disability.
