Autism spectrum disorders are a group of developmental disorders that affect communication and behavior. Although autism can be diagnosed at any age, it is called a "developmental disorder" because symptoms usually appear during the first three years of life. The term "spectrum" is used to describe autism because there is a wide variation in the types and severity of symptoms experienced by people with these disorders. Spectrum disorders occur in all ethnic, racial, and economic groups. Although they may last a lifetime, treatments and services can improve symptoms and ability to function in people with autism spectrum disorders. The research examined four types of therapy, namely ABA therapy, sensory integration therapy, hydrotherapy and hippotherapy. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science dedicated to understanding and improving human behavior. ABA differs from other fields in its focus, goal, and methods. Sensory integration therapy aims to help children with sensory processing problems (which some people may call "sensory integration disorder") by exposing them to sensory stimulation in a structured, repetitive way. Hydrotherapy is a treatment that uses water to treat certain pathologies, rehabilitation in water enables greater control over the body, so the patient can also perform difficult exercises, such as resistance exercises, which strengthen joints and bones and improve muscle tone, posture and balance. The name hippotherapy comes from the Greek words hippos (horse) and therapia (treatment). It is a specialty where the therapeutic effects of horses are combined with specific kinetic exercises according to the patient's diagnosis. The aim of the work is to compare the effectiveness of different therapeutic models for people with autism. The results showed that ABA therapy is the most effective of the tested therapies, although it has a slightly lower initial rate than other therapies because it is considered an early intervention therapy. Hippotherapy is considered the most financially unacceptable, while hydrotherapy is the most financially acceptable.
