Abstract Ovaj rad detaljno analizira streptokokne kožne bolesti, s fokusom na njihovu učestalost,
blagih do životno ugrožavajućih stanja.
infekcija. Opisuju se laboratorijske metode, uključujući brze streptokokne testove i kulture
briseva, koje su neophodne za točnu dijagnozu. Također se raspravlja o liječenju streptokoknih
kožnih bolesti, ističući važnost pravilno odabrane antibiotske terapije i, u teškim slučajevima,
znanja i svijesti o streptokoknim kožnim bolestima među studentima prijediplomskog studija
programa s ciljem povećanja efikasnosti dijagnostičkih i terapijskih postupaka.
poboljšala pravovremena dijagnoza i liječenje. Edukacija zdravstvenih radnika i javnosti važna
boljem javnozdravstvenom ishodu.
Abstract (english) This thesis analyzes streptococcal skin diseases in detail, focusing on their frequency,
pathogenic mechanisms and potential complications that can significantly affect public health. In
the introductory part, the thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the history of
streptococci, their classification, and pathogenesis, with special reference to Streptococcus
pyogenes. This bacterium is known for its ability to cause various forms of skin infections that
can range from mild to life-threatening conditions. The thesis describes in detail the clinical
picture of the disease caused by this pathogen, including symptoms and disease progression. The
analysis is further deepened by an overview of diagnostic methods that are crucial for the timely
recognition of streptococcal infections. Laboratory methods are described, including rapid
streptococcal tests and swab cultures, which are essential for accurate diagnosis. Treatment of
streptococcal skin diseases is also discussed, emphasizing the importance of properly selected
antibiotic therapy and, in severe cases, the need for surgical intervention. Special emphasis is
placed on antibiotic resistance, which is a growing problem in the treatment of these infections.
The research part of the work is based on the analysis of knowledge and awareness about
streptococcal skin diseases among undergraduate nursing students at the University North. The
research results indicate mediocre to good knowledge among students, but also identify specific
areas where additional education is needed. Based on the obtained data, the thesis proposes
strategies for improving the curriculum and educational programs with the aim of increasing the
efficiency of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The thesis emphasizes the necessity of
continuous education and raising awareness about streptococcal infections, in order to improve
timely diagnosis and treatment. Education of healthcare workers and the public is important for
reducing the prevalence of these diseases and preventing serious complications, thus contributing
to a better public health outcome.
