Introduction: In this final paper, the frequency of injuries in boxing is investigated and the role of physiotherapy in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of these injuries is analyzed. The paper describes the history of boxing, its role in sport, explains the rules of boxing and difference between amateur or Olympic boxing and professional boxing. The correct technique of performing the most common punches in boxing and the correct position of the body during defensive stances. The types of protective equipment used during fights and training are listed to reduce the number of injuries in certain regions of the body, and preventive procedures are explained through strengthening, stabilization and stretching exercises for certain muscle groups that can be carried out by a physiotherapist with a boxer in the parts of training that focus on injury prevention. Methods: The research part of the work was conducted on a sample of recreational and competitor boxers in boxing clubs in the city of Zagreb. A total of 35 boxers participated. For the purposes of the research, an anonymous survey questionnaire was used, consisting of a series of questions about the way and time of practicing boxing and the most common injuries since the respondents have been practicing boxing. Also, questions were asked about the physiotherapy procedures that the respondents used to treat the injuries, along with a section on prevention methods that the respondents carried to reduce the risk of injuries. Each research participant filled out the questionnaire independently under the supervision of the researcher. Results: Most boxers were from recreational boxing, and the most common type of injury was a superficial injury (bruise, scratch, blister), while the most frequently injured part of the body was the face. A significant number of respondents used some form of physiotherapy intervention in rehabilitation from injury, which shows a positive trend in promoting the importance of the role of physiotherapists in rehabilitation and injury prevention in boxing. Discussion: From this research it can be concluded that there is a significant number of acute and chronic injuries among boxers in recreational and competitive boxing. It is necessary to carry out further research to be able to determine the cause of injuries as accurately as possible and to work on injury prevention and educating boxers on the use of proper protective equipment and the benefits of preventive procedures
