Abstract | Autoimune bolesti crijeva uključujući ulcerozni kolitis, Chronovu bolest i celijakiju, predstavljaju značajan izazov za bolesnike, ali i zdravstveno osoblje zbog svoje komplicirane etiologije i složenog tijeka bolesti.
Abstract (english) | Autoimmune intestinal diseases, including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and celiac disease, represent a significant challenge for patients as well as health care personnel due to their complicated etiology and complex course of the disease. In some segments, ulcerative colitis overlaps with Crohn's disease, and they are also referred to under the common name - inflammatory bowel disease. Celiac disease is an intestinal disease marked by an immune reaction to gluten. Nurses play a key role in providing holistic care, and patient education plays an important role. This final paper explores the importance of education provided by nurses in the treatment and daily life of patients with autoimmune bowel disease. Considering that nurses spend the most time with the patient, the research wanted to show how much time was spent on education.
The ultimate goal was to determine whether education is carried out by nurses, to what extent, how satisfied they are with the education provided, and whether there is any need for education by nurses, considering doctors, various associations, and the availability of information via the Internet. People suffering from Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and celiac disease participated in the research. The survey included 309 respondents, mostly from Croatia. The research included a survey in which 31 questions were asked. All questionnaires were filled out online through the Google application, and respondents were recruited through Facebook groups for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease and celiac disease, as well as through associations of patients, mostly from the area of northwestern Croatia. From the results of the research, it can be concluded that the respondents have a relatively high level of agreement regarding the fact that nurses are essential for providing information to patients about diseases. Respondents suffering from autoimmune bowel diseases expressed lower satisfaction with the information provided about the disease by the nurse. Therefore, one can see the importance of continuous education by nurses as well as the need for continuous training of nurses in order to provide optimal support and care for patients with autoimmune intestinal diseases. |
