Cardiopulmonary reanimation is a set of resuscitation procedures and measures. The main objective of CPR is to restore cardiac and pulmonary function. CPR is divided into basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) resuscitation measures. Successful reanimation is considered the one when an unfortunate person leaves the hospital without any consequences. Cardiac arrest usually occurs outside medical institutions and it is very important that laymen or other persons found use basic resuscitation procedures, which are mainly taught in auto – schools nowadays. The survival chain shows taht every link is important for survival and recovery of an unfortunate person at heart failure. If all links of the chain work, the chance of survival increases. Basic life support refers to maintenence of airway and support of breathing and circulation without the use of equipment. The ability of the unfortunate person to react with shaking and voice inquiry is checked: ''are you all right?''. If a person reacts, the ABCDE approach shall be assessed. If a person does not respond to shaking and loud calling, i. e. if he does not show signs of life, CPR should be started. The compression site is the middle of the chest, which corresponds to he lower half of the sternum. The massage starts at a rate of 100 – 120 compression per minute at a depth of 5 cm. Advanced life support includes the use of breatjinh tools, defibrillators and venous access devices and medicines. There are two kinds of heart rhythms we estimate. Those who are defibrillating and those who are not defibrillating. It opens and verifies the airway, by inserting the head back and raising the chin, and then breathing. You watch the chest rise, listen and feel the air flow for up to 10 seconds. AED is an integral part of BLS. It analyzes the ECG and recognizes the VT and VF, sets the required energy, reloads and signals when it needs to be defibrillated.
