Breastfeeding is a natural process that is the first step in primary prevention and health promotion. It is important for proper growth and development of the child, but also for the health of mothers. All experts agree that breast milk is the best food for infants. Although most mothers want to breastfeed her child, the desire on the one hand and perseverance of mothers in the decision to breastfeed on the other hand do not always go exactly together. Breast milk is completely adapted to children's needs, and contains a number of defensive substances that protect the baby from infections and diseases. Hence, the composition of mother's milk is unique and can't be produced by any technical methods. The nurse in the community is a person who plans, implements and coordinates health care, with her/his continued education and the education and counseling of persons assisted. In the whole process an important factor is individual and dedicated approach to every pregnant women and new mothers so that they are well informed, educated and assisted in the process of breastfeeding and in resolution of any other problem that appears in this process. Of great importance and help for the mother are the groups for breastfeeding support. These groups came from the traditional forms of behavior and age-old readiness of women to severe and assist each other. Breastfeeding support groups are self-organized way to help women in which mothers with breastfeeding experience helping other mothers who are breastfeeding, and are under the supervision of nurses.
