Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory, progressive and autoimmune disease based on involvement of the locomotor system and accompanied by phases of remission and exacerbation. It should be emphasized that the joints are affected first, and with the passage of time, greater damage is visible both inside and outside the joints, which ultimately results in disability and an extremely low quality of life for the patient, as well as a low rate of independent functionality. Establishing an early diagnosis can significantly affect the progression of the disease in a positive sense for the patient. There is a wide range of different methods of treatment for this specific disease, but it depends on the degree of the disease. With this in mind, there are two principles of treatment, from simpler, conservative ones to, in more severe cases, surgical treatment methods. The work of physiotherapists with rheumatological patients is anything but negligible. There are manual techniques, stretches, various exercises, tissue manipulation, electrotherapy, etc., and all these methods really help in the suppression and progression of this disease.
