Stomach cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the world and has the second highest mortality rate. It is even twice as common in men than in women, and the incidence increases with age, as evidenced by the data that more than 75% of patients are over 50 years old, and it most often occurs between the ages of 60 and 80. Due to the non-specific symptoms and the relatively late definition of the diagnosis, the prognosis for long-term survival is worse, except for patients with localized disease. Symptoms such as loss of appetite and aversion to meat and other foods are not as common a symptom of stomach cancer as it is thought to be. It occurs most often only in an advanced stage of development, exceptionally in the early stages. Only in 10 to 20% of patients the disease is diagnosed while it is still localized. Over the last decades, the frequency of stomach cancer has been decreasing, but what is worrying is the increase in the frequency of cancer located in the upper parts of the stomach, especially in patients who are younger than 40 years old. The aim of this work is to describe the etiology, risk factors, diagnostic procedures, treatment methods, quality of life of people suffering from a malignant disease, and the specifics of nursing care for patients with stomach cancer. Nurses/technicians play an important role in the care of patients suffering from stomach cancer. Interventions aimed at solving both physical and psychological difficulties are applied in care.
