This thesis consists of six chapters which I made so I could represent the importance of environment protection and his effects on people ie. all lives on Earth, on biodiversity and all that surrounds us. At the beginning of this thesis I did the theoretical part about policy of environment protection in European Union and in Republic of Croatia. There is a big number of institutions which take care of policies of environmental protection and with this thesis I presented their responsibilities and their jobs which they have to conduct according to legal regulations. In elaboration of this thesis I investigated mostly environment in Croatia. This implies all aspects of environment which are part of environmental protection in Croatia. For every aspect of environment I explored how that aspect is affecting on lifestyle and how much on an effect it has on other natural assets in environment. After all investigations and literature ie. policy and rules of environmental policy in Europe, therefore in Croatia too, I made one more investigation about awareness of the population about environmental protection. For the end I explored opportunities and threats which are part od environmental protection in Croatia.
