Abstract
Redoviti sistematski pregledi pridonose praćenju rasta i razvoja djeteta, sprječavanju, ranom otkrivanju i liječenju bolesti. [2]

Health is one of the basic human rights of every person, World Health Organization promotes health as fundamental human right, and its goal is to achieve the highest level of health among all nations. Health care covers the system of social, group and individual measures, services and activities for improvement, conservation and return of health. Protective measures organized and carried out by medical system, along with measures carried out by other members of community in dealing with a specific health issue, are defined as health care program. Today, a lot of attention is paid to development of protective measures such as health promotion, health education and disease prevention. [1] Future of society and ensuring a healthy population depends on the health of children and for that reason improvement and preservation of their health are very important as well as providing the best health care. Health care of children includes application of various medical and socio-medical measures whose goal is to ensure their proper growth and development. Preventive measures that contribute to growth and development of children are diet, vaccination against infectious diseases, prophylactic antirachitic, regular physical examinations. Child’s diet in the first place includes breast feeding as the best and the cheapest infection protection among other benefits of breast feeding. In 1989 WHO and UNICEF have started a worldwide action of return to breast feeding known as “Ten steps to successful breast feeding”. Vaccination against infectious diseases is considered to be the most effective and efficient manner of protection for individuals as well as the entire population. Diseases like small pox, diphtheria, poliomyelitis are completely eradicated, whilst measles, pertussis (whooping cough), varicella and mumps have been radically reduced. Other than having a great influence on the health, vaccination also influences economical situations. It is more costly to treat an infectious disease then it is to prevent it. Application of vitamin D is provenly effective in prevention of rachitis as is fluorine with caries and iodine with goiter. Regular physical examinations contribute to monitoring of child’s growth and development, prevention, early detection and disease treatment.
