Abstract
Kohezijska politika Europske unije igra ključnu ulogu u promicanju uravnoteženog razvoja u njezinim regijama (u slučaju Republike Hrvatske, naglasak se stavlja na županije, gradove i općine), s ciljem smanjenja regionalnih razlika i povećanja ekonomske i socijalne kohezije. Istražujući teritorijalnu, ekonomsku i socijalnu dimenziju pet županija NUTS II statističke regije Sjeverne Hrvatske, ovaj rad pridonosi širem diskursu o regionalnom razvoju i koheziji unutar Europske unije. Poseban se naglasak stavlja na istraživanje dinamike razvoja županija Sjeverne Hrvatske kako bi se omogućio uvid u postojeće i potencijalne izazove, ali i raspravile se mogućnosti budućeg razvoja.
Abstract (english)
The cohesion policy of the European Union plays a key role in promoting balanced development in its regions (in the case of the Republic of Croatia, emphasis is placed on counties, cities and municipalities), with the aim of reducing regional differences and increasing economic and social cohesion. By investigating the territorial, economic and social dimensions of the five counties of the NUTS II statistical region of Northern Croatia, this paper contributes to the wider discourse on regional development and cohesion within the European Union. Special emphasis is placed on researching the dynamics of the development of the counties of Northern Croatia in order to provide an insight into existing and potential challenges, but also to discuss the possibilities of future development.
