Abstract
Traheotomija je kirurški zahvat koji se izvodi na dušniku kako bi se osigurao direktan prolaz zraka u pluća kada postoje prepreke u gornjim dišnim putovima. Ova retrospektivna studija analizira pacijente podvrgnute traheotomiji na Klinici za kirurgiju lica, čeljusti i usta u KB Dubrava, u razdoblju od 2020. do 2023. godine. Glavni ciljevi istraživanja bili su analiza razloga za izvođenje traheotomije, tipovi operacija koje zahtijevaju traheotomiju, te analiza demografskih podataka pacijenata, uključujući dob, spol i pušačke navike. Rezultati su pokazali da su najčešći razlog izvođenja traheotomije tumori glave i vrata, dok je većina zahvata bila elektivna. Hipoteze koje su ispitane potvrđuju veći broj privremenih traheostoma u usporedbi s trajnim, te statistički značajnu razliku u učestalosti zahvata kod muškaraca u odnosu na žene.
Abstract (english)
A tracheotomy is a surgical procedure performed on the trachea to ensure direct air passage to the lungs when there are obstructions in the upper airways. This retrospective study analyzes patients who underwent tracheotomy at the Clinic for Maxillofacial Surgery at KB Dubrava from 2020 to 2023. The main objectives of the study were to analyze the reasons for performing tracheotomies, the types of surgeries requiring tracheotomy, and demographic data of the patients, including age, gender, and smoking habits. The results showed that the most common reason for tracheotomy was head and neck tumors, with most procedures being elective. The hypotheses tested confirm a higher prevalence of temporary tracheostomies compared to permanent ones, and a statistically significant difference in the frequency of the procedure between men and women.
