Abstract FDM tehnologija 3D tiska sve češće nalazi primjenu u industrijskom okružju.
U ovom će radu biti ukratko opisan 3D tisak, kratka povijest, glavne metode i načini rada 3D printera, ponajviše Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) tehnika 3D tiska, i primjena 3D tiska u automobilskoj industriji - od prvog 3D isprintanog auta, preko rješenja rezervnih dijelova do restauracije klasičnih vozila.
Abstract (english) FDM technique for 3D printing keeps finding itself in industrial environments. There are two main factors which caused the spread of its application - advancements of capabilities of 3D printers and a huge increase in available polymer and composite materials for 3D printing. The automotive industry soon recognized these advantages and the new possibilities granted by 3D printing, so it is an industry which is introducing 3D printing very rapidly for prototyping and production. The need for lighter and harder materials has always been present in the automotive industry, therefore the need for advanced materials to be used in 3D printing is not surprising. The sudden development of materials resulted in a wide array of advanced composite materials, and it is nearly impossible to find a united overview of the current state of available materials. Therefore, the goal of this thesis is to create an objective overview of advanced composites and their mechanical properties.
In this thesis, the process of 3D printing, its history, main techniques and how they work will be summarized. FDM will be described into more detail, as well as the application of 3D printing in the automotive industry. After the general overview of 3D printing in the automotive industry, there is some information gathered through research at Rimac Automobili, a Croatian supercar company, along with some photos taken there. An interview has been conducted with the person in charge of 3D printing at the company.
After that, we are getting more technical with composite thermoplastic polymers and nanocomposites. That chapter contains a wide range of experiments with different composites, where each is summarized and the main properties are given for each one.
Finally, the thesis focuses on carbon fiber and metal composites, which are described in detail.
