Abstract
Ovaj rad istražuje moderne tehnike miksanja i masteringa u nu metal glazbi, zalazeći u jedinstvene zvučne elemente žanra i njegove zahtjeve dinamičke produkcije. Istraživanje se također dotaklo tekuće rasprave između analognog i digitalnog masteringa, pri čemu sudionici preferiraju analogni/hibridni mastering. Ključno je istaknuta važnost modernih tehnika miksanja u oblikovanju zvuka nu metala, uključujući agresivnu kompresiju, precizno oblikovanje EQ-a i kreativne vokalne tretmane. Ove tehnike, u kombinaciji s odabranim pristupom masteringu, naglašavaju složenost proizvodnje nu metala. U konačnici, izbor između analognog i digitalnog masteringa ostaje subjektivan. Glazbeni producenti nu metala moraju iskoristiti snagu obje metode tokom miksanja i masteriranja glazbe kako bi uhvatili intenzitet žanra dok u isto vrijeme koriste prednosti moderne digitalne tehnologije. Ovaj rad naglašava važnost spajanja tradicije i inovacije u potrazi za uvjerljivim i rezonantnim zvučnim pejzažima.
Abstract (english)
This paper explores modern mixing and mastering techniques in nu metal music, delving into the unique sonic elements of the genre and its dynamic production requirements. The survey also touched on the ongoing debate between analog and digital mastering, with participants favoring analog/hybrid mastering. The importance of modern mixing techniques in shaping the sound of nu metal is crucially highlighted, including aggressive compression, precise EQ shaping and creative vocal treatments. These techniques, combined with a chosen approach to mastering, highlight the complexity of nu metal production. Ultimately, the choice between analog and digital mastering remains subjective. Nu metal music producers must harness the power of both methods when mixing and mastering music to capture the intensity of the genre while at the same time taking advantage of modern digital technology. This work highlights the importance of combining tradition and innovation in the pursuit of compelling and resonant soundscapes.
