This thesis focuses on the study of MIG welding of stainless steel X5CrNi18-10, one of the most commonly used stainless steels in the industry. The paper begins with a brief history of welding, with a particular emphasis on the development of welding technologies and processes. The theoretical part of the thesis is dedicated to the weldability of stainless steels, the MIG/MAG welding process, key welding parameters, methods of metal transfer, the selection of shielding gases, and the importance of proper corrosion protection. The experimental part of the work describes the MIG welding procedure of stainless steel, which was conducted in the laboratory of the University North. A total of five samples were welded, then cut, ground, and polished. The samples were subsequently prepared for microscopic examination by electrochemical etching. Based on the obtained results, conclusions were drawn regarding the impact of parameters on the weld joint geometry and corrosion resistance. At the end of the experimental part, corrosion testing of the samples was conducted in hydrochloric acid.
