MIG/MAG welding is flux electrode welding with the protection of active or inert gases. This procedure can be applied to a wide range of materials of different types and thicknesses. There are several methods of transferring metals. Short – circuit metal transfer is applied to the root of welds at thicker materials or to welding thinner sheets. The conveyance of metals by globular arc is applicable almost to all materials. Mixeed arc transfers of metals by globular and short – circuit occur in intervals. Pusled curve transmission is suitable for a wider range of material thickness and in all positions. For each of these transffers, certain parameters are required. The protective gases arising from this welding process are also of paramount importance since they protect the weld, but also the droplets of molten metal when passing through an electric arc. By using means of transmission of metals, specific gas, thickness and type of material, additional materials are thus applied. The Additional material may be filled, powder – filled or filled with metal. All these parameteres affect the weld itself. Is is therefore important to define the exact parameters in order to avoid undesired welding errors and errors in the weld that can be: cracks, penetration, porosity, glare and spraying. The stainless steels are specified and dividided according to microstrutures and chemical composition, they are described according to their mictrostructures and their weldability has been described.
